Background to OHiL
Old Herefordians in London (OHiL ) was founded by a couple of OHs in the spring of 2003. The official London Dinner, attended by the Headmaster plus 30 or more guests had just ended at the East India Club in St. James’s Square, SW1. Several members then decided to re-assemble downstairs in the American bar so they could continue chatting over a glass or two because some had not seen one another since leaving school. As a result there was much to catch up on.
As each OH left to go home that night, one member suggested that it would be a nice idea if we could all meet up again, independently of any official function. The plan would be to choose a centrally located pub, then invite as many OHs as possible to join us. This separate gathering would be a much less formal event, where guests from any HCS Year Group could just turn up whenever it suited them. That way they would meet their former school contemporaries in a casual setting without any constraints.
